National Preventive Group continues visits to prisons
Ombudsman Office Press release PR 3657/79-16, 28.04.2016 Ombudsman’s National Preventive Group conducted monitoring in Prison No.11 of the Penitentiary Service under the Ministry of Justice without prior notice.
Purpose of this visit was to receive prisoners appealed to the Commissioner, to investigate applications on spot.
During the visit prisoners were explained their rights, requirements of the relevant legislation, the competences of Ombudsman. Moreover they were givent legal consultation on the issues raise by them. In general, interviewed persons didn’t complain about detention condition and treatment.
Also, they have been legally educated about their own rights, requirements of the relevant legislation, legal consultation was given on the issues raised by them, their documentations were investigated, and their applications to be sent to the Commissioner were received.
The administration of the facility was given necessary recommendations for further improvements. Press service
