N 1580-2064/180-10, 30.06.2010
Balajakhanum
Khudaverdiyeva appealed to the Commissioner and noted her son Vasif
Khudaverdiyev detained at penitentiary No. 2 of the Ministry of Justice
had
gone hunger strike. According to the instructions of the Commissioner,
the
members of the NPM group against torture visited that facility and met
with V.
Khudaverdiyev on June 23, 2010.
During the
conversation with the inmate he noted had been going hunger strike
since 22
June, 2010, as positive reference about him was not given to the court
for
moving to the areal penitentiary. V. Khudaverdiyev noted he is detained
in a
separate cell and is kept under the doctor’s control. He asked to
assist him to
move to penitentiary for ex-staff members of law-enforcement bodies
considering
the fact that he is a serviceman.
It should be noted
the inmate regularly meets with his lawyer.
As a result of reinvestigation
it was revealed that Court of Appeal will hear the case of V.
Khudaverdiyev and
therefore he was moved to Baku Investigatory Isolator.
The representatives
of the Ombudsman Office defined that V. Khudaverdiyev stopped hunger
strike on
June 25, 2010.
The Commissioner made
appeal to move V. Khudaverdiyev to another penitentiary.
