The members of the NPM group conducted visit to punishment isolators of penitentiaries No. 2, 6 and 15

According
to the instructions of the Commissioner for Human Rights, the members
of the Ombudsman’s
NPM group conducted short-term visits to penitentiaries No. 2, 6 and
15. They
met with inmates in the punishment isolators, learned detention
conditions and
explained them their rights.
Inmates
didn’t complain about imprisonment conditions and treatment. The
documents
affirming the imprisonment was examined, no cases of violation were
found.
Newly
built waiting room for the persons visiting inmates in penitentiary No.
15 was
appreciated as a positive case.
Moreover,
it was defined that punishment isolator in Penitentiary No. 15 was
repaired and
brought into conformity with standards; penitentiary No. 2 is being
repaired.
Necessary
recommendations were given to the administration of the facility for
improvement of imprisonment conditions.
