Information on juvenile justice was provided for the
members of Leadership School
An
event dedicated to juvenile justice was held at the Leadership School
at the
Azerbaijani Child and Youth Peace Network - Ombudsman’s resource center
on
child rights.
The
representative of the Commissioner Ravan Samadov focused on work
carried our
recently for establishment and development of juvenile justice,
improvement of
legislation, reforms carried out at the institutional level, progress
made in
liberalization of punishment, detention conditions of inmates and
treatment of
detainees.
He
noted formation of perfect juvenile justice system meeting
international standards
is a prior issue in Azerbaijan.
He
mentioned in the Commissioner’s proposals made in this regard it is
noted that
adoption of law on juvenile justice will not only eliminate problems
occurred
during criminal-sentencing process, but also will be a step forward in
formation of perfect juvenile justice system in Azerbaijan.
