| Ombudsman Office Press Release N 1412-1880/320-09, 07. 01. 2010 According to the the appeals of inmates and members of their families the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Republic of Azerbaijan analyzed pardoning of inmates in the frame of law in compliance with the Article 1.4 of the Constitutional Law on the Commissioner considering the fact that some of them repent for actions they have committed, they reformed and don’t endanger society any more. It should be mentioned that this year Ombudsman sent motion on liberation of more than 100 inmates, as well as journalist Mushfig Huseynov and juvenile Parvin Ibrahimov according to the next pardoning act. 99 inmates were pardoned considering personality, health state, family status and their behavior during their detention period according to the 46th Pardoning Decree signed by the country president Mr.Ilham Aliyev on December 25, 2009. Considering the motions of Ombudsman totally 11 inmate, journalist Mushfig Huseynov, as well as women and juvenile inmates were pardoned. It should be mentioned that up to now totally 309 inmates, including juveniles, imprisoned women, aged and ill prisoners were pardoned and liberated on following Ombudsman’s appeals. Press Service
