Ombudsman conducted visit to Investigatory Isolator No.2 and TDPs

A visit was conducted to Investigatory Isolator No.2 by the Commissioner and
staff members of Ganja regional Center who are also the members of Ombudsman’s
NPM group. She received a number of detainees as well as children, talked to
them in private, explained them their rights.
Those persons didn’t complain about the detention conditions and treatment.
However, there were persons who expressed their dissatisfaction about
ill-treatment at Kapaz Rayon Police Office (RPO) of Ganja City Head Police Office
and Shamkir Rayon Police Department and the investigation conducted on their
cases.
Ombudsman met with chief of Ganja City Head Police Office and told them to
investigate the above-mentioned cases with the staff members of Ganja Regional
office.
The Commissioner also conducted visit to TDPs of Ganja City Head Police Office
and Shaki RPD.
Detainees were talked in private, their rights were explained to them, the
documents confirming the lawfulness of detention were examined.
Conformation of detention conditions with the relevant norms, provision of
those persons with lawyers, subjection to ill-treatment, provision with medical
assistance food, lightening and ventilation of cells, observing hygienic norms
were inspected.
Detainees didn’t complain about the treatment.
Ombudsman gave necessary recommendations to the administration of the mentioned
facilities for improving the detention conditions. Press Service.
